In the foot care office, an experienced, specially trained podiatry nurse provides treatment and care based on each patient’s individual needs.
The podiatry nurse performs the following procedures:
assessment of the overall condition of the feet and preparation of a treatment plan
treatment of foot ulcers, including for diabetic patients and those with atrophic ulcers
treatment of skin conditions: fungal infections, calluses, corns, and warts
treatment and correction of ingrown toenails
medical pedicure and nail care
counseling regarding orthoses
patient education and counseling, including foot care guidance and advice on footwear selection
