Cardiac Ultrasound

Assessment of the heart’s structure and function using ultrasound performed by a cardiologist.

With cardiac ultrasound, also known as echocardiography, high-frequency ultrasound waves are used from the body surface to obtain an image of the heart muscle, valves, blood vessels, and other parts of the heart. This allows the diagnosis and evaluation of various heart diseases, as well as monitoring of cardiac function. The procedure is safe and painless. It is often performed repeatedly to monitor changes.

The examination lasts approximately 30 minutes.

During the examination, the patient lies or sits with a bare upper body. For better imaging, the room is dimly lit.
