Thyroid Ultrasound

An ultrasound examination to assess the structure and size of the thyroid gland.

During the examination, ultrasound waves are sent into the body using a special probe. These waves are reflected back from the examined area and displayed as an image on the ultrasound machine screen. The procedure is safe and painless. A gel is applied to the skin for the examination and wiped off afterwards. The gel does not stain. The examination is usually performed in a lying position. The need for the examination is determined by the doctor during consultation.
