A general practitioner is usually the first point of contact for most health concerns.
Patients of all ages are welcome to consult a GP with complaints that would typically be addressed in a family doctor’s office, or for initial assessment of other health issues, health checks, and interpretation of blood tests.
The most common reasons for seeing a general practitioner include: acute illness (such as viral infections, fever, cough, or cold), inflammatory conditions, pain (both acute and chronic), exacerbation or monitoring of chronic diseases, prescription renewals, issuing medical certificates, vaccinations, disease prevention and counseling, as well as minor surgical procedures (wound care, removal of small skin lesions, removal of stitches, etc.).
